My Motivations: Overview
As part of the Holistic Goal-Setting process I mentioned in my last post, I need to investigate my motivations and look for the fundamentals that lay behind my habits. What common threads can I find for why I do what I do, and are they valid?
In the following series of posts I’m going to be investigating some of what I think are some subsurface motivators in my life [in no particular order, except that which they’ll appear]:
- Adrenaline - Mountain Biking, Snowboarding & Fast Cars
- Aesthetics - Nice Things, Architecture & Atmosphere
- Mentorship - Children, Learning & Reproduction
- Presence - Women, Play & Romance
- Expression - Music, Art & Communication
- Coherence - Nature, Spirituality & Union
- Relationships - People, Networks & Deep Conversation
- Maintenance - Self-Care
- Community - Giving & Stewardship
- Minimalism
Disclaimer: as you’ll soon see, each of these motivators is an integrated part of the ecosystem that represents my drive. I only split them apart here so that you can better appreciate them when you observe the elegant patterns that they create in my life.
This list is neither complete, nor gets to all the fundamentals, but at least it’s got me thinking in this direction.
